Women in Tech at the Web Summit 2018: we continue our interview with Pepijn Rijvers We continue to talk about the “Women in Tech Program” with Pepijn Rijvers , CMO of Booking.com. If you missed the first part of the interview, click here . Are the women who take part in this initiative followed even after the event? We have no mechanism to monitor what students do after their sessions with mentors. Some students have already started startup initiatives, others are still in the idea phase, while others are still following a career path within more consolidated companies. So there is real diversity in this group right from the start and everyone will then choose their own career path. We hope that participants stay in touch with their mentors and that the Web Summit encourages all participants to join the Women in Tech Group on Facebook , where women can share information, experiences and use the group as an informal network.

We are continuing to evolve our flexible working approach for both men and women and have recently introduced a training program to see men and women equally across the organization to raise awareness of the obstacles and challenges facing them.

There are several ways you can contribute, both within your own organization and through participation in a larger industry initiative. Being true to yourself is a great way to start. The Web Summit will soon begin the process of recruiting mentors for the November Summit in Lisbon, and joining the Web Summit Women in Tech Group on Facebook or asking the organizers when registering for the Web Summit are both great ways to get involved. Talking to HR staff or those responsible for diversity initiatives in your organization is a good place to start if you want to make a difference.
